On May 27, the 2023 Lianjiang Lychee Global Promotion Conference was held. During the event, businesses and cooperatives from the world signed economic and trade orders for 23000 tons of lychee, encompassing both domestic and export markets, to promote the Geographical Brand of "Lianjiang Lychee" to the world.
Establishing a conservation fund for precise protection of ancient lychee forests
Lianjiang, one of the origins of lychee in China, is known for its 500-acre wild lychee forest on Xie Xie Mountain, which is the only remaining contiguous wild lychee forest of 6.67 hectares in China's inland regions and is considered a treasure of lychee archaeology.
This year, the venue for the Lianjiang Global Lychee Promotion Conference was set in Xie Xie Mountain for the first time, aiming to explore the historical and cultural value of lychee and establish it as a representative symbol of the integrated development of culture, tourism, and economy in Lianjiang.
To enhance the protection of the precious wild lychee forest in Lianjiang, the "Lianjiang Ancient Lychee Forest Conservation Fund" has been established. It will implement unified registration and documentation for the ancient lychee forests in the city, establish comprehensive archives and electronic databases, and employ experienced and skilled "local experts" as dedicated guardians of the ancient lychee forests to ensure precise management and conservation.
Foreign consulates in Guangzhou organized a delegation to promote Lianjiang lychees
Lianjiang lychees account for about 60% of China's lychee exports and are sold to dozens of countries and regions, including Europe, America, Australia, and Southeast Asia.
SP Starmate, a Dutch company, has been a long-term partner of Lianjiang Liangdong Risheng Lychee Cooperative. According to Lin Yuyang, the representative of their China office, they choose Lianjiang every year to purchase Feizixiao lychees because the local cooperative leaders have extensive knowledge of lychees and preservation techniques, as well as a reliable supply chain. Nowadays, the lychees they purchase are loaded in full containers and shipped by sea, allowing Lianjiang lychees to reach European consumers at the most affordable prices.
Ruben Espinoza Raymondi, the Consulate General of Peru in Guangzhou, expressed his anticipation for the long history of Lianjiang lychees and the promising lychee industry. Peru will actively promote online and offline communication, investment and trade negotiations between Chinese and Peruvian enterprises, help more Lianjiang products enter the Peruvian market, and share Lianjiang's convenient foreign investment and trade services with allied countries, thereby deepening economic and trade cooperation between the two regions.
Deepening the construction of the market system to achieve global lychee sales
In recent years, Lianjiang has made great efforts to promote the industrialization, scale-up, standardization, and branding of the lychee industry. A set of high-yield and high-quality cultivation and management techniques for Feizixiao lychee has been developed and summarized. The lychee professional cooperatives throughout the city of Lianjiang have implemented comprehensive services including a unified supply of production materials, unified pest and disease control, unified field management, and unified product sales.
Lianjiang will continue to actively develop and strengthen the lychee industry, aiming to make the "Lianjiang lychee" industry a shining business card for external promotion. There will be a strong focus on cultivating and developing agricultural leading enterprises and professional cooperatives, leveraging the cooperative relationships among farmers to promote the upgrading of lychee production, sales, and brand building, and contribute to rural revitalization.
